NaNoWriMo

Congrats to Elizabeth Faith Ferrier for writing 50,007 words in the month of August for NaNoWriMo!

Trees fall.

No, we did not just have a fierce storm with harsh winds and a huge earthquake....this brach just fell on its own. And it was still alive with green leaves. Pretty freaky, right?

Anyways, Liz's birthday was just last Sunday! She is now 14, what!!!!!

This is the gift I gave her, a birthday banana (which she rejected) and books.

Lavender scented cow from mother.

This cake was not the best (we only had two eggs when we needed four, so we had to refridgerate it and add more later, which made the cake have a strange texture). But I made some cup-cakes the next day (Liz made the frosting) to make up for this bad cake that I made.

Gardening

This years garden has been our most succsessful yet, and it's still growing! We've worked hard to keep it alive, fighting against rabbits, squirrels, and all kinds of bugs. The work paid off, and it really is a beautiful little garden, filled with fresh produce and flowers.
Here's Bob, our first good ripe tomato

No, this is not Larry. It's actually a Zucchini.

Looking forward to the Pumpkins!

Thank you God for sending bees to pollinate our plants.

Police line (do not cross)

the other day my father came back from his bike-ride and said he had something for me. He then reached into his pocket and I took a step back, just to be safe. But I didn't need to worry, for out of his pocket he pulled a 'Police Line Do Not Cross' thing! It's the real deal, too. He passed some workers who where taking it down and they said he could have it. Now it has found its new home on my door.

3 days till Winona

hold a dachshund

fry an egg on the pavement

correction: attempt to fry an egg on pavement

gardening

eat a banana pop

make a count-down chain to winona

that's just a few of the things we've been doing these days that make the time fly (sorta fly).

3 days till Winona

Ah, yes, it's that wonderful time of year again, the last few days until we leave for Winona Lake. These last few days usually go by pretty slowly, but this year I have been keeping myself occupied with activities to pass the time (i.e. reading, scrap-booking, frying an egg on the driveway). I'll post some pictures as soon as I can, but for some reason only one of our working computers has a place to put a camera chip in it. All the other computers require cords and complicated stuff, which I think is extravagant.

Origami

I am learning to make origami this summer, and thought I'd share with you my first attempts. To the left is my first windmill base.

first songbird (that one is hard)

first turtle that looks kinda like a frog.
I used the book 'Crease + Fold' by Sok Song, for those of you who'd like to give origami a try. She explains how to make it very well, making it easier than I had expected.
